Gregg Fleishman "Proposal for Disaster Housing" 2006

Culver City-based artist Gregg Fleishman has been seeking out new dimensions of design for over 25 years. Fleishman's professional background stems from building and architecture but he credits his creative abilities to growing up in a unique Modern Play school founded by his parents in 1949. Fleishman consciously bridges the worlds of art and architecture, offering meticulously – and mathematically – crafted objects that serve both décor and function. These objects include furniture, play structures, geometric configurations and the occasional foray into vehicle design. Fleishman works primarily with slotted European birch plywood and plastics.

Gregg Fleishman's work has appeared in several exhibits including the Gallery of Functional Art, Santa Monica; publications including Los Angeles Magazine and the New York Times; and is in the collections at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Yale University Art Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
